Smart Laundry Instruction Tags and Washers
I have a number of pink dress shirts. They used to be white dress shirts, but you see, I also have a number of red casual shirts.
Why do I have to be so smart about laundry? Surely the washer should know when its filled with incompatible clothes, warn us, or at least adjust settings appropriately. Why don’t we have smart tags on our clothes, which talk to our washer, and prevent inadvertent shrinkage, pinkening, etc.? Why, I ask you?
Track with co.mments

This is possible today, if every clothing manufacturer and washing machine maker would incorporate the use of RFID tags.
Each garment would have an embedded RFID tag (these are so small they can be embedded in a page and not noticed), which contains the instructions for washing this garment. Then the washing machine would scan the current laundry load and warn/notify the user of any potential conflicts between the garment’s instructions and the currently selected wash cycle. So it’s just a matter of getting every clothing manufacturer to sign up for the idea…
